Are you interested in joining Anglesey Beekeepers Association?

Here’s what we get up to!

We meet regularly in the evenings during the Winter and occasionally have social meetings during the Summer. Our meetings are normally held in the Rhosmeirch Community Hall. The meetings are informal and we discuss a wide range of topics to do with beekeeping. For example, we have had talks recently about pre-emptive swarm control, apiary security, 'If Heath Robinson had been a beekeeper', comb management, the role of drones, Varroa control, honey bee communication and foraging habits of native bees. As well as education and entertainment you also get a free cup of tea/coffee and biscuit! During the COVIC pandemic, we have also used digital platforms to keep everyone connected and engaged.

ABKA members are also given priority for places on ABKA Training Courses, which are regularly oversubscribed!

We have three classes of membership:

A Full Beekeeping Member: for someone who has or is about to have at least one colony of bees on Anglesey or its immediate environs. As well as the ABKA activities, membership also provides third party public and product liability insurance via Welsh Beekeepers Association, a quarterly magazine “The Welsh Beekeeper” and cover for bee diseases (up to three hives but additional cover can be purchased). Annual Subscription for a Full Beekeeping Member is £21.

Double Beekeeping Membership: for two people who live at the same address and keep bees together on Anglesey or its immediate environs i.e. joint ownership of bees. The membership counts as a single membership with regard to voting rights and benefits of ABKA and the Welsh Beekeepers Association i.e. one copy of the Welsh Beekeeper. Annual Subscription for a Double Beekeeping Membership is £29.

Associate Member: for people who do not keep bees but have an interest in bees and beekeeping on Anglesey or its immediate environs. They are welcome to all meetings of ABKA but do not enjoy any of the benefits of the WBKA. Annual Subscription for an Associate Members is £5.
